Jozef Cíger-Hronský (23. 2. 1896, Zvolen - 13. 7. 1960, Luján, Argentina). Writer, originally teacher. He entered the service of "Matica slovenská" in 1933 and was editor of the magazine "Slniečko". From 1933 he was the organisation's secretary, and from 1940 to 1945 its administrator. He was responsible for the establishment of the "Neografia" printing house. Emigrating in 1945, he was president of the Slovak National Council Abroad and honorary president of the League of Slovak Writers and Artists Abroad. In 1959 he founded "Matica slovenská" abroad.
