Tatra omnibus was an electric vehicle, that had been running from 1904 – 1906 between Poprad and Starý Smokovec. It was a three-axle trolleybus with 25 seats and 8 places for standing. It had binded, on the front axle bigger wooden wheels made by August Stoll in Dresden. One of two wagons was constructed in Poprad, in the workshop of famous entrepreneur Viliam Krieger, who obtained the concession for the running of the electric trolley track from Poprad to Tatry. The town Poprad had rent him the electric central station for 30 years and 4 months after signing the treaty, the trolley main was build on wooden poles with iron consoles above the dusty road. At the same time, the producer delivered the ordered wagons and the testing drive of omnibus could started. Tatra omnibus started to run on August 2, 1904, 100 years ago, on the route from Poprad to Starý Smokovec, five times a day and the journey lasted for 75 minutes. Its running had to be stopped in the middle of the highest summer season in 1906, because of the steadily reservations on its safety. However, it was significant for the history as the first transport vehicle of this kind not only in Slovakia, but also in central Europe. On the stamp and FDC is a drawing depicting Tatra omnibus.
