In 1991 a section of the Jewish culture was created near the "Hystoric Museum of the Slovak National Museum", from which in 1994 the independent "Museum of the Jewish culture in Slovakia" came into existence as a part of the "Slovak's National Museum". The biggest part of its collection fund consists of objects, used by the religious service in synagogues and oratories, also as objects from an inventory of the jewish households. A permanent exhibition (opened on 20-th of May, 1993) on "Židovská" street no. 17 in Bratislava, informs the visitors about history and culture of Jews living in Slovak territory since the times of the Great Moravian Empire (9. Century Anno Domini). It informs about ordinary and festive life of Jewish inhabitants, reviews the most important holidays, shows synagogues interior and also eminent Jewish personalities, which made Slovakia famous in different areas of art, culture, social and scientific life.
