Popradské pleso lake (or tarn) lies at an elevation of 1,500 metres and, at 6.88 hectares, is one of the largest on the Slovak side of the High Tatras. If its fauna, mostly the lower animals, is somewhat sparse due to the relatively cold water, the tarn makes up for this with its spectacular setting at a point where the valleys Zlomisková dolina and Mengusovská dolina meet, with the Ostrvy massif providing the backdrop.
