Christmas Mail – a unique endeavour organised by Slovenská pošta, a.s. since 1999 – has become an essential part of the most beautiful holiday season of the year. The goal of this event is not just to spread Christmas cheer, but also to pass on traditions with a classic style correspondence. Thanks to Slovenská pošta, a.s., children may send secret wishes and gift requests, and also drawings or greetings for Baby Jesus to his address at “Ježiško 999 99”. Since the beginning, Baby Jesus has received more than 1.7 million letters from children around the whole world. 
Again this year, Slovenská pošta, a.s. will issue a special postage stamp from the series “Christmas Mail”. The design comes from a drawing by Linda Mészárosová, a student of ZŠ Rozmarínová 1 elementary school in Komárno. Her depiction of an angel was basis behind the visual concept of the stamp. The FDC design, St. Nicholas, was drawn by Christopher Peter, a student from the Spojená škola Hradná 7 elementary school in Komárno. Finally, a drawing of a Christmas carp was used as the start of the PDC concept, created by Viktória Csábiová, also a student from the Spojená škola Hradná 7 elementary school in Komárno. All the artwork was chosen by the Postage Stamp Design Commission from drawings from the “Christmas Mail 2017”, which were sent in by children as a part of the letters to Baby Jesus program. Graphic design was done by academic painter Vladislav Rostoka.
