Karol L. Zachar belongs among the most significant and versatile Slovak theatrical artists. During his life, he worked not only as an actor or director, but also as a scenic artist, costume designer and teacher. First he studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague, later moving to the Faculty of Philosophy in Bratislava, but finally his love for the theatre was greater and in 1942 he completed a course of study of the performing arts at the State Conservatory in Bratislava.
