First time in history of the Slovak Republic a stamp with paralympic motive will be issued. Slovak paralympic athletes are for many years so successful at world events and all they deserve such honor. They took part at 6 Paralympic Games since Slovakia is independent country (3 summer and 3 winter games) and they obtained 60 medals, 10 of them were gold. Most successful sports are Table Tennis, Skiing, Athletics and Cycling. Stamp shows deceased athlete in Cycling Radovan Kaufman during his winning event 1 km sprint in Paralympic Games Sydney 2000. Native citizen of Partizánske past amputation on his right leg in 1994 because of Ewing sarcoma and in the year 2002 he underwent amputation of left scapula because of chondroblastic osteosarcoma. In addition to his gold medal from Sydney 2000 he triumphed during World Championship 1998 in Colorado Springs where he achieved the World record. He also obtained Silver and Bronze medal from this championship in other disciplines alike from European Championship 1999. He passed away on June 19th 2003 as 25 years old. To honor him Slovak Paralympic Committee organize third annual campaign in Slovakia called “On wheels against cancer”. The point of it is using non-powered vehicle for some distance. Fund-raising profit will be assigned for buying a Wave System. The Wave System is a medical device used for prevention of cancer. Ján Riapoš
