Július Jakoby (1903 – 1985) is one of the most important Slovak painters of the second half of the 20th century. He is a significant and essentially lone figure of Slovak fine art. The artist’s work grew in the avant-garde environment of 1920’s Košice, and unquestionably contributed to the creation of the tradition of a modern painting in Košice in the 20th century.
