Chatam Sófer (Moshe Schreiber) (24. 9. 1762 Frankfurt am Main - 3. 10. 1839 Bratislava) chief Bratislava rabbi (1806 - 1839) and greatest Jewish scholar of the last century. Rabbis from all over Europe came to Bratislava to seek his advice or adjudication in matters both religious and secular. In his Rabbinical College he educated hundreds of rabbis who went on to work all over the world.
