The Mining water system from Špania Valley is one of the most important technical works in Slovak mining history. Surface water was transported along wooden raceways and underground channels to provide a valuable source of energy for water-driven machinery and equipment in the copper and silver mines in and around the Špania Valley. Built in stages, it was operational from the early 16th century until the 1900s.
